Dallas Things to Do in Fair Park
The city of Dallas in Texas is unfortunately famous as being the site of assassination of one of the famous presidents of the USA since over 40 years. But, today, there is nothing as such for the tourists to get afraid of. In fact, there are many Dallas things to do, which will bring fun and joy to all the members of your family. In the downtown itself, there are many attractions for you to keep you engaged. But, in this article, I will only focus on the Dallas things to do in Fair Park because this itself boasts a myriad of highlights.
Created in 1936, the 277-acre Fair Park was for the Texas Centennial Exposition. Today, you can plan to explore this area in one day or in several days because there is a range of museums, concerts, theaters, and other entertainment mediums. Chose before hand what you want to visit here and also include the activity of ambling through the park as the central walkway boasts some good murals and sculptures.
The African-American Museum boasts four vaulted galleries to exhibit the African-American art and history since the pre-colonial era until the present era. There are both permanent and temporary displays. The Museum of Nature & Science is the amalgamation of the former ‘Museum of Natural History’ and ‘The Science Place’. So, here you will come across 60 dioramas of native flora and fauna, Texas dinosaur exhibits the highlight being a giant protostega sea turtle of 90 million years old), a myriad of hands-on activities, temporary exhibitions, an IMAX Theater, and the Planetarium with 400 exhibits.
To add more, there is also The Women’s Museum, Texas Discovery Gardens (www.texasdiscoverygardens.org), The Hall of State (www.dallashistory.org), The Museum of the American Railroad (www.dallasrailwaymuseum.com), Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The Music Hall (www.dallassummermusicals.org), and new Children’s Aquarium (www.dallaszoo.com/aquarium/aquarium.htm).
