Things to do in Athens
We all are aware of Athens for its acropolis, Temple of Zeus, Temple of Athena Nike, and Parthenon. Well, this time I thought to check out for some more interesting things to do in Athens. With this, I found that Athens is seriously a hub of many attractions that are contemporary, traditional, and natural. All thanks to my planning and new way to explore Athens, which actually brought to me its vivid cultures and ways to enjoy life. Here are those three interesting things to do in Athens.
Accessible easily from the Temple of Zeus within 700 m, the Syntagma square is worth a visit, which is dominated by the Parliament house. It is suggested to stop for a while here and greet the Eyzones who are the presidential guard safeguarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. What is even more interesting is to attend their post changing ceremony occurring after every hour. Despite the fact that this is an important custom followed seriously, one might feel like laughing while looking at their strange footwork.
Stretching opposite to the house is the Ermou Street that is most popular for its satisfactory shopping. There are all kinds of shops here to get you what you want as per your budget. And yes, there are also many restaurants to savor fulfill your appetite. Tourists mostly spend an afternoon here as the street becomes live with many Greeks shopping their favorites and necessities. By the way, shopping is the hot favorite past time of the locals here.
While in Athens, take a tour of the Greek island of Hydra that adorns the Argo Saronic Gulf. Reachable in just short time period, Hydra gives you a distinct as well as exciting chance to explore life on a Greek island. Come here either by an underground train, bus, or a taxi and get down at Port of Piraeus from where a hydrofoil leads you to Hydra in just 1.5 hours. Marvel at the vista of vivid boats and of the white as well as brown houses on the slopes, swim off the rocks, shop here, walk around the harbor, and explore the meandering village roads by trekking.
